Our first annual Member Exhibition, Plants Illustrated opens this Saturday, January 16^th at the University of California Berkeley Botanical Garden. The reception is to be held on Saturday, January 16th from 2-5pm. The show is free with admission to the garden. Our exhibit will be up from January 16th through the 29th between the hours of 11am to 4pm and will be staffed at all times. The Garden is closed on MLK, Jr. Day, January 18th.

Thirty six of the Northern California Society of Botanical Artists will be exhibiting and it promises to be a wonderful show. Please come and visit and support botanical art in the Bay Area.

January is here and annual chapter dues are due. Send your $20 to GNSI-CA, PO Box 1418, Aptos, CA 95001. It is helpful to us if you include your name, email & mailing address. Dues go to pay for any room rentals, mailings, instructor/lecturer fees, our P.O. Box and sometimes to subsidize food at exhibit openings.

What do I mean by Natural History Themed Still Life?

Well, so far they have been pretty simple: rocks; gourds. But there is oh so much more that can be arranged. Ideas? Thoughts? Drop me an email! I am open to suggestion.

That's right! The second Sunday of October is fast approaching. I am hosting yet another natural history themed still life drawing session from 1-3pm on Sunday, October 11, 2009. If I get my act together, there may be light snacks, but I promise to clean the studio first before I bake, lol!

(Those of you with furry animal allergies, be aware that I have several, most of whom reside in the studio.)

Sunday September 13th is Drawing Day!

You are invited to my studio in the Glenview district of Oakland for a 3 hour drawing session. I will set up a natural history themed still life for all to work on. Or you can bring one of your own unfinished pieces to work on/solicit help from your colleagues. The session runs from 1-3.
